Promote the development of shipping industry! Burma wants to become Asia's maritime trade hub
According to the Thailand Post reported Bangkok, Burma's Deputy Minister of Ministry of transport and communication feel wonderful in 2017 at the fifteenth session of the ASEAN port and shipping conference said that the development of the port and shipping industry in Burma will become integrated into the global economy impetus.
The Burma transportation infrastructure is at the bottom of the Asian benchmark because of our poor investment objectives over the years. It is time to effectively and systematically improve our transport infrastructure through regional and international cooperation.
He said that the smooth traffic can promote regional trade and economic growth, narrow the gap between regional development and strengthen the relations and integration among ASEAN countries.
McGregor Miao also said that the Chinese government is aware that transportation is one of the key areas of China's economic development, China's sustainable development depends on the establishment of an efficient transport system, complete the development of the port, is one of the crucial factors.
Burma Port Bureau Director Niang said that maritime trade in Burma's efforts to spur the economy remains crucial, and called on multiple levels of attention in maritime affairs, such as protect the environment, security, navigation and other security related challenges. Burma now has 9 ports, mainly serving maritime and coastal trade. The port of Yangon is the main gateway to maritime trade and is responsible for about 95% of the marine exports and imports.
Burma Port Authority Deputy Director of the wonderful welcome, said that more than 85% of Burma's trade by sea. Yangon port now can accommodate 36 ships of the Yangon inland sea wharf can accommodate 26 vessels, Thilawa area can accommodate 10 ships.
At present, from the 20 container transportation company 46 ships usually use the port of Yangon with 10 countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Iran, India, Sri Lanka, China India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Thailand) direct trade.
Mr Ying pointed out that regulators have been creating a good environment for investors in the port sector, and that Burma will encourage private sector participation and cooperation with international financial institutions.
Miao Ying said Egypt, financial assistance and Dawei special economic zones and other national development projects from abroad will promote the Burma port development to a great extent.
